Beggars' Dust
After a thousand year imprisonment, Vor'Kest'Hran has escaped into the world. Driven by dreams and premonitions, a scholar of ancient writings uses mystical amhrazine stones to invoke the spirits of the Elders of old in four children, so that they may fight this long forgotten evil.
But as the children reach maturity oblivious to their purpose, the evil one has already infiltrated the highest in the land. The scholar is now dead, and the young man who should have been the leader of the four has been brainwashed and turned away from their cause.
Without their mentor, with only the mystical stones for clues, the four must unravel the past to discover what has been done to them, and where their destiny lies? Will they learn of Vor'Kest'Hran's enemy, the god who can assist them in their trials? Or will the evil one succeed in crushing them before they have the chance to realize their true purpose and fulfil the task for which they were created?
Paupers' Gold
After years of exile on the island of Hegrin, those who fled Nereboth have grown comfortable in their community, learning more about their god, Jo'Hra'El. But the evil one is still at work in back in Nereboth, and hostility with neighbouring Sardala has reached the point of war.
As Avelin goes off to join the Nerebothan army, the others begin to question the destiny and purpose they have ignored for so long. Shaenna and Dareth undertake a covert visit to Nereboth to seek answers, but in their absence their home becomes subject to the wiles of Vor'Kest'Hran, and upon their return, a drastic decision is made. Two missions must be carried out at once: one to spread word of Jo'Hra'El throughout Nereboth; the other, to journey to Sardala to find and recover the amhrazine chain which they believe can imprison Vor'Kest'Hran once again.
Planning to come together again at midsummer in Nereboth, the two missions set off, little knowing of the momentous events that will overtake them and the radical measures Vor'Kest'Hran will take to try to break them; working out as they go the overwhelming significance of the prophecy that Dareth made at his trial almost ten years before.
Pretender's Ruin
When white is black and black is white,
And reason cannot sway the cause;
When sanity is put to flight,
And cities burn, and senseless wars
Rage on, despite the cries for peace;
And passion slays integrity;
Then who can make the battle cease:
And who will set the hostage free?
When right is wrong and wrong is right,
And lies are truth and truth is myth;
When the deceiver clouds the sight
Of those who deal the bitter pith
Of justice forged by vanity,
So law is bent to serve his side;
Then who will fight his tyranny,
And who will dam the rising tide?
When bad is good and good is bad,
Greed celebrated, honour spurned;
Sobriety mocked and faith despised,
And hearts of simple men are turned
To violence, vengeance, love of self;
When innocence is sacrificed
To gods of lust and power and wealth,
Then who will pay the final price?
